Start of Summer Ghost Dam Run

Hey PJ’s,  water levels are rising !     What better way to warm up for the season than to paddle the “classic” Ghost run.   This is a run for paddlers new to whitewater who want to work on their basic boat skills before flow rates become more challenging.    We’ll be running a section of the Bow River from the Ghost Dam to the Wild Cat Gas Plant which is Class 1 with a couple of Class 2 features.  Join us for a fun evening on the river.

Meet at the TransAlta Ghost Dam put in ( exit at the Cottage Club and drive to the end of the road ) at 6:00pm, once everyone has arrived and is ready we will shuttle cars down to the Wild Cat Gas Plant and then walk our gear down to the river.

Requirements:

• • You need to have taken an intro to whitewater course or have comparable experience. If this is not yet the case, please message us and we can discuss it further.
  • You must be an active 2023 member of Paddle Junkies to sign up (if you’re having issues signing up for the event, please ensure that you are signed into the website and have paid your 2023 membership fees. If it still doesn’t work, please message us!)
  • Bring your own gear – your boat, PFD, helmet, and paddle.  Float bags are greatly appreciated.
    • Also, it’s actually required to carry a whistle and rope on each watercraft (see the section on Water Safety Kits in the link), so if you don’t have those yet, consider purchasing them very soon.
