2021 Paddle Junkies AGM

Saturday October 30 @ 2pm

Do you want to see the inner workings of Paddle Junkies? Do you want to know what’s happening in your club and be part of the decision making for 2022? Do you want to have your ear to the ground in Alberta’s paddling community? Come out to the AGM and volunteer for one the available positions on the 2022 executive board!

Before the outgoing executive board is dissolved for the year we will go over the years numbers; how many members we had, how many trips were run and how the funds are sitting for 2022. We will also be voting to make some changes to the Paddle Junkies Whitewater Club’s bylaws. The two changes we will be looking to make are:
1) to reduce the number of days required to call an AGM from 45 days to 30 days.
2) to change the description of the role of our Members at Large so that they are no longer considered to be Directors.

At this time the location of the meeting is TBD as we’re hoping to be able to paddle either before or after the meeting and this will be weather depending. As we get closer to the date we will announce more details.

A Return to Weekly River Trips – June 2021

With the Alberta government recently updating the restrictions for public gatherings and physical activities in groups, Paddle Junkies is now able to begin running our weekly trip leader led runs.

In order to be able to sign up for these runs you must be an active 2021 Paddle Junkies member and you must create a login on our website.

You will not be able to sign up for runs with out a login to our website. If you have previously had a login to our website, your login will still work you will just need to ensure that your membership status is current and we will switch you back to active once we have confirmation that you have signed up for your 2021 membership through the AWA page. https://www.albertawhitewater.ca/paddle-junkies-calgary

Please note that we are humans, heck we’re kayakers, some of us are dirtbag kayakers, and we do not have a schmancy automated system that turns your membership status to good as soon as you pay your membership dues. It sometimes takes us awhile to update your status. If you’re in a rush to join a run, please send us a message through our Facebook page and we will try our best to get your status updated ASAP.

Currently we are waiting for water levels on the Bow River to come down to safe boating levels. Once this happens you will see posts on our Facebook page announcing the run and where to sign up. If you’re not into Facebook, check our website weekly and look at the Events tab to see new events. You will not be able to add your event to your cart if you are not signed in.
